Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(i) and the motion adopted by the committee on Monday, November 3, 2025, the committee resumed its study of artificial intelligence.

Motion

Taleeb Noormohamed moved, — That the committee invite the Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and the Minister responsible for CEDQ, Melanie Joly, to appear before the committee on the topic of her mandate, on or before February 5, 2026.

Debate arose thereon.

By unanimous consent, it was agreed, — That Pina D’Agostino deliver her statement.

Amendment

Tony Baldinelli moved, — That the motion be amended by replacing the words “Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and the Minister responsible for CEDQ, Melanie Joly, to appear before the committee on the topic of her mandate” with the words “Minister of Industry and the Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Innovation, to appear before the committee to discuss their mandates for no less than two hours each” and by replacing the words "February 5, 2026" with the words "December 11, 2025".

Subamendment

Taleeb Noormohamed moved, — That the amendment be amended by replacing the words “two hours” with the words “one hour”, by adding before the words “on or before December 11, 2025,” the words “best efforts” and by adding after the words "on or before December 11, 2025," the words "but no later than February 5, 2026".

Motion

Maxime Blanchette-Joncas moved, — That the debate be now adjourned.

Motion

Tony Baldinelli moved, — That the artificial intelligence study be extended by one further meeting, and that that meeting be dedicated to hearing from all of those witnesses that appeared on Monday, December 1, 2026, so that they could fully not only provide their testimony but actually have time to take questions and answers from all members of the committee.

On motion of Guillaume Deschênes-Thériault, it was agreed, — That the committee do now adjourn.

At 1:52 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
