Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Thursday, September 18, 2025, the committee resumed its study of Canada's ability to remove foreign nationals with a criminal record.

The Minister of Public Safety and the Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship made statements and, with Ted Gallivan and Erin O'Gorman, answered questions.

At 4:37 p.m., the meeting was suspended.

At 4:45 p.m., the meeting resumed in camera.

The committee proceeded to give drafting instructions to the analysts for a draft report.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, the committee resumed its study on the role of the Canada Border Services Agency in the H2O Highway corridor and port clearance practices.

The committee proceeded to give drafting instructions to the analysts for a draft report.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Thursday, September 18, 2025, the committee resumed its study of Canada-United States border management.

It was agreed, — That the draft report, as amended, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That the report be entitled: “Canada–United States border management”.

It was agreed, — That the Chair, clerk and analysts be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the report.

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the committee request that the government table a comprehensive response to the report.

It was agreed, — That dissenting or supplementary opinions be in Calibri 12-point font, left aligned, single-spaced, and be submitted electronically, in both official languages, to the clerk of the committee, not later than 12:00 p.m. on Friday, May 8, 2026.

ORDERED, — That the Chair present the report to the House.

The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

It was agreed, — That, in relation to the study of Bill C-22, An Act respecting lawful access, the committee dedicate 10 hours in three meetings to the hearing of witnesses, including the Minister of Public Safety and the Minister of Justice;

that the committee seek additional resources on Tuesday, May 5, Thursday, May 7, and Tuesday, May 26, 2026, to complete the meetings;

that amendments be submitted to the clerk by 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 27, 2026;

that the committee commence clause‑by‑clause consideration on Tuesday, June 2, 2026.

At 5:09 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
