The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

It was agreed, — That the proposed budget in the amount of $500, for the briefing with the Parliamentary Budget Officer on two recent reports: Supps (A), 2026-27 and Economic and Fiscal Outlook – June 2026, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That the proposed supplementary budget in the amount of $200, for the study of comprehensive expenditure review, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That, given the motion adopted by the House, and the consequent order of reference to the committee on Wednesday, April 22, 2026: (a) the committee prioritize the first meetings upon the return from summer recess to the study referred to in Private Members' Motion M-16; (b) the committee devote a minimum of four meetings to hearing witnesses on this study; (c) witness suggestions be sent to the clerk no later than Sunday, August 30, 2026; (d) the committee move directly to consideration of the draft report as soon as possible following the end of witness testimony; (e) the committee request additional resources, if needed, to complete the requirement to report back to the house no later than Thursday, October 22, 2026; (f) any dissenting or supplementary opinion be received by the clerk before 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, or 72 hours after adoption of the report, whichever date is earlier.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(c), the committee proceeded to a briefing with the Parliamentary Budget Officer on two recent reports: Supps (A), 2026-27 and Economic and Fiscal Outlook – June 2026.

Annette Ryan made a statement and, with Mark Mahabir, Govindadeva Bernier, Kristina Grinshpoon and Caroline Nicol, answered questions.

At 4:10 p.m., pursuant to Standing Order 115(5), it was agreed that the committee continue to sit.

At 4:18 p.m., the meeting was suspended.

At 4:24 p.m., the meeting resumed.
