Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, the committee commenced its study of the integration of the Canadian Coast Guard into the Department of National Defence.

Chris Henderson, James Boutilier, Teresa Eschuk and Adam Lajeunesse made statements and answered questions.

At 10:03 a.m., the meeting was suspended.

At 10:07 a.m., the meeting resumed in camera.

The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

It was agreed, — That the committee host an informal meeting in-camera with the German Minister of National Defence and his delegation on Tuesday, October 21, 2025.

It was agreed, — That the proposed budget in the amount of $2,500, for the study of the integration of the Canadian Coast Guard into the Department of National Defence, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That the proposed budget in the amount of $500, for the briefing on threat analysis in the Euro-Atlantic and Indo-Pacific Regions, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That the proposed budget in the amount of $31,900, for the study of Francophone and Indigenous members of the Canadian Armed Forces, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That the proposed budget in the amount of $31,900, for the study of the nexus between national defence, national security and Canada’s critical minerals sector, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That the proposed budget in the amount of $500, for the study of the report of the Auditor General of Canada on Canada's future fighter jet capability, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the committee undertake a study of the Department of National Defence and Canadian Armed Forces contaminated sites, of a minimum of one meeting to hear from municipalities.

At 10:30 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
