Pursuant to the order of reference of Tuesday, November 18, 2025, the committee commenced consideration of Bill C-14, An Act to amend the Criminal Code, the Youth Criminal Justice Act and the National Defence Act (bail and sentencing).

The Hon. Sean Fraser made a statement and, with Owen Ripley, answered questions.

At 5:30 p.m., the meeting was suspended.

At 5:39 p.m., the meeting resumed.

Chelsea Moore, Matthew Taylor and Joanna Wells answered questions.

The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

That the proposed budget in the amount of $17,600, for the study of Bill C-14, An Act to amend the Criminal Code, the Youth Criminal Justice Act and the National Defence Act (bail and sentencing), be adopted.

At 6:27 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
