Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Monday, September 22, 2025, the committee resumed its study of a defence industrial strategy.

Arad Gharagozli, Goran Pesic and Neil Chaulk made statements and answered questions.

Motion

Raquel Dancho moved, — That the committee report to the House that it condemns the unjustified American tariffs on the Canadian Auto sector, and that it calls upon the government to live up to its promise made during the election to negotiate a win for the workers whose livelihoods depend on a good deal for Canada.

Debate arose thereon.

Amendment

On motion of Gabriel Ste-Marie, it was agreed, — That the motion be amended by adding after the words “the Canadian Auto sector” the following: “and that of heavy vehicles”.

Amendment

Taleeb Noormohamed moved, — That the motion be amended:

by deleting the words “report to the House that”

by adding after the words “the Canadian Auto sector,” the following: “steel and aluminum industries, and softwood lumber industries.”

by adding after the words “to negotiate a win,” the following: “and that his majesties loyal opposition live up to its commitment that “We need to work together” in order for the government to get a deal in the spirit of taking a Team Canada approach,”.

Debate arose thereon.

At 7:09 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
