The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the committee undertake a study on the role and capacity of women's shelters and transitional housing to support women and girls in Canada who are experiencing housing insecurity and gender-based violence; that the study examine:

  • access to safe and stable housing for women experiencing gender-based violence;
  • the links between housing insecurity, poverty, and gender-based violence;
  • the capacity and accessibility of women's shelters and transitional housing across Canada to support vulnerable women and those fleeing violence.

That the committee identify the support measures needed to strengthen these services, hold at least four meetings, and hear from witnesses from the housing and gender-based violence sectors; that the committee report its findings to the House; and that, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the government table a comprehensive response to the report.

It was agreed, — That witness lists for the study of women's shelters and transitional housing be submitted to the clerk no later than Thursday, May 7, 2026.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Monday, September 15, 2025, the committee resumed its study of section 810 of the Criminal Code and women's safety.

The committee resumed consideration of a draft report.
