The Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development met in camera at 11:46 a.m. this day, in Room 306, The Valour Building, the Chair, Dean Allison, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Dean Allison, Lois Brown, Paul Dewar, Marc Garneau, Peter Goldring, Hon. Laurie Hawn, Hélène Laverdière, Romeo Saganash, Gary Ralph Schellenberger and Bernard Trottier.

 

Associate Members present: Scott Reid.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Allison Goody, Analyst; Brian Hermon, Analyst; Erin Shaw, Analyst; Justin Mohammed, Analyst. House of Commons: Caroline Massicotte, Procedural Clerk.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), and the motion adopted by the Subcommittee on International Human Rights on Thursday, April 23, 2015, the Committee commenced a study of the Aftermath of the Rwandan Genocide: A Study of the Crisis of Children Born of Rape.
 

The Committee commenced consideration of a draft report.

 

It was agreed, — That the draft report be adopted.

 

It was agreed, — That the report be entitled: "The Aftermath of the Rwandan Genocide - A Study of the Crisis of Children Born of Rape Committed During the Genocide".

 

It was agreed, — That the Chair, Clerk and analyst be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the report.

 

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the Committee request that the Government table a comprehensive response to the report.

 

It was agreed, — That the Clerk of the Committee, in consultation with the Chair, issue a news release for publication on the Committee's website and for distribution upon presentation of the report to the House.

 

ORDERED, — That the Chair present the report to the House.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, February 24, 2015, the Committee resumed its study of the situation in Hong Kong.
 
The Committee proceeded to give drafting instructions to the analysts for a report.
 

It was agreed, — That a proposed budget in the amount of $12,500, for the study of the Situation in Hong Kong, be adopted.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That a proposed budget in the amount of $3,500, for the study of the Subcommittee on International Human Rights on the Human Rights Situation in Sudan, be adopted.

 

It was agreed, — That a proposed budget in the amount of $12,340, for the study of the Subcommittee on International Human Rights on the Human Rights Situation in Mexico, be adopted.

 

It was agreed, — That a proposed supplementary budget in the amount of $16,300, for the study of the Subcommittee on International Human Rights on the Human Rights Situation in Iran, be adopted.

 

It was agreed, — That a proposed supplementary budget in the amount of $6,000, for the study of the Subcommittee on International Human Rights on th Human Rights Situation in Vietnam, be adopted.

 

It was agreed, — That a proposed supplementary budget in the amount of $10,000, for the study of the Subcommittee on International Human Rights on Sexual Violence and Persecution of Religious Minorities in the Syrian Conflict, be adopted.

 

At 12:28 p.m., the sitting was suspended.
