The Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills Development, Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met at 11:04 a.m. this day, in Room 705 La Promenade Building, the Chair, Raymonde Folco, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Peter Adams, Eleni Bakopanos, Jean-Claude D'Amours, Barry Devolin, Raymonde Folco, Paul Forseth, Ed Komarnicki, Yves Lessard, Tony Martin, Yasmin Ratansi and Peter Van Loan.

 

Acting Members present: Carole Lavallée for Yves Lessard, Christian Simard for Christiane Gagnon and Robert Vincent for Christiane Gagnon.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Chantal Collin, Analyst; Kevin Kerr, Analyst.

 

Appearing: Hon. Joe Fontana, Minister of Labour and Housing.

 

Witnesses: As an Individual: Harry Arthurs, Commissioner of Federal Labour Standards Review. Federal Labour Standards Review Commission: Neil Gavigan, Senior Director. Pursuant to Standing Order 81(4), the Committee resumed consideration of the Main Estimates 2005-2006: Votes 5 and 15 under DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN RESOURCES AND SKILLS DEVELOPMENT referred to the Committee on Friday, February 25, 2005.
 

The Minister made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

 

At 12:17 p.m., the sitting was suspended.
