The
Standing Committee on Official Languages met at 3:40 p.m. this day, in Room
269, West Block, the Chair, Mauril Bélanger, presiding.
Members of the Committee
present:
Carole-Marie Allard, Mark Assad, Mauril Bélanger, Eugène Bellemare, John
Bryden, Jeannot Castonguay, Yvon Godin, Jason Kenney, Benoît Sauvageau, Raymond
Simard and Yolande Thibeault.
In attendance: From the Research Branch of the
Library of Parliament: Marion Ménard, analyst.
Witnesses: From the Quebec Community
Groups Network: James Carter, Coordinator, Community Health and Social
Services Network; Sara Saber Freedman, Researcher, Missisquoi Institute.
Pursuant to the Order of
Reference of March 20, 2003, the Committee resumed its study on the
subject-matter of Bill C-202 and on health care in both official languages.
James Carter made a
statement and, with the other witness, answered questions.
At 4:40 p.m., the sitting
was suspended.
At 4:41 p.m., the sitting
proceeded to sit in camera.
Pursuant to the Standing
Order 108 (3)d), the Committee proceeded to the consideration of a draft
report on the Canadian Television Fund and the production in official language
minority communities.
At 5:25 p.m., the Committee
adjourned to the call of the Chair.
