The Standing Committee on Official Languages met in a televised session at 3:35 p.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, Mauril Bélanger, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Carole-Marie Allard, Mark Assad, Mauril Bélanger, Eugène Bellemare, John Bryden, Jeannot Castonguay, Scott Reid, Benoît Sauvageau, Raymond Simard, Yolande Thibeault.
Other Member present: Alexa McDonough
In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Marion Ménard, analyst.
Appearing: From the Privy Council Office: The Hon. Stéphane Dion, President of the Queen's Privy Council for Canada and Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs.
Witnesses: From the Privy Council Office: Robert Asselin, Special Advisor, Official Languages; Hélène Gosselin, Deputy Secretary, Intergovernmental Policy; Geoffroi Montpetit, Executive Assistant; Anne Scotton, Director General, Official Languages.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(d), the Committee held a briefing session on the government action plan on official languages.
The Hon. Stéphane Dion made an opening statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.
At 4:36, Yolande Thibeault took the Chair.
At 4:38, Mauril Bélanger took the Chair.
At 5:10 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
