The Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration met at 11:05 a.m. this day, in Room 308, West Block, the Chair, Joe Fontana, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Yvon Charbonneau, Madeleine Dalphond-Guiral, Libby Davies, Joe Fontana, John O'Reilly, Massimo Pacetti, Jerry Pickard, Lynne Yelich.

Acting Member present: Andrew Telegdi for Anita Neville.

In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Benjamin Dolin, Researcher.

Witnesses: From the Hellenic Canadian Congress: Nicholas P. Katsepontes, Policy and Legal Advisor. From the Mennonite Central Committee Canada: Bill Janzen, Director of the Ottawa Office. From the National Organization of Immigrant and Visible Minority Women of Canada: Dr. Anu Bose, Executive Director and Project Manager.

Pursuant to its Order of Reference of Friday, November 8, 2002, the Committee resumed debate on Clause 2, consideration of Bill C-18, An Act respecting Canadian citizenship (see Minutes of Proceedings, Thursday, November 21, 2002, Meeting No. 6).

Nicholas P. Katsepontes and Bill Janzen made statements and answered questions.

Dr. Anu Bose made a statement and answered questions.

At 12:49 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
