The Standing Committee on Health met in a televised session at 9:21 a.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Bonnie Brown, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Bonnie Brown, Diane Ablonczy, Reg Alcock, André Bachand, Colleen Beaumier, James Lunney, Réal Ménard, Rob Merrifield, Judy Sgro, Yolande Thibeault, Judy Wasylycia-Leis.

Acting Members present: Dan McTeague for Hélène Scherrer, Rose-Marie Ur for Stan Dromisky, Bob Wood for Jeannot Castonguay.

Other Members present: John Bryden, Marlene Catterall, Werner Schmidt.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Nancy Miller Chenier and Sonya Norris, Research Officers.

Appearing: From the Health Canada: The Honourable Allan Rock, Minister of Health.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee proceeded to the consideration of Canada’s plans and preparations for a response to the threat of bioterrorism.

The Minister made a statement and answered questions.

At 10:31 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
