The Sub-Committee on International Trade, Trade Disputes and Investment of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade met at 3:35 p.m. this day, in Room 705, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Sarmite Bulte, presiding.
Members of the Sub-Committee present: Sarmite Bulte, Deepak Obhrai, Alex Shepherd, Bob Speller.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Terrence Thomas and Blayne Haggard, Research Officers.
Witnesses: From the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade: William Clarke, Assistant Deputy Minister, International Business and Chief Trade Commissioner; Gary Scott, Director, Northern Europe Division; Cameron Siles, Trade Relations Advisor, Europe Union Division. From the Canadian Chamber of Commerce: Robert Keyes, Senior Vice-President, International. From the Alliance of Manufacturers & Exporters Canada: Jayson Myers, Senior Vice-President and Chief Economist.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) a study on Canada's economic relations with Europe.
The Order of Reference dated Thursday, February 10, 2000 being read as follows:
ORDERED, -- That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Sub-Committee on International Trade, Trade Disputes and Investment undertake a study of Canada's economic relations with Europe. (See Minutes of Proceedings, Sub-Committee on Agenda and Procedure of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade. Meeting No. 18).
William Clarke made a statement.
At 4:05 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
