On Monday, February 9, 2026, the Standing Committee on Science and Research adopted the following motion:
It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(i), the Standing Committee on Science and Research undertake a study on the role of universities and colleges, the National Research Council Canada, industry experts and federal departments in supporting Canada’s dual use and defence research needs as a component of NATO spending targets. That the committee hold at least four meetings and that the committee report its findings to the House and request a government response.
