M-30 Bee colonies

43rd Parliament, 2nd Session

Motion Text

That, in the opinion of the House, the government should take immediate steps to address the alarming and dangerous loss of bee colonies and other pollinating insects in Canada and beyond by: (a) recognizing the vital role that bees and other pollinating insects perform ecologically, economically, and for our food security; (b) phasing out the widespread use of neonicotinoid pesticides and ensuring access to safe alternatives; and (c) developing a strategy to address the multiple factors related to bee colony deaths, such as the destruction and disturbance of habitat, as well as the use of pesticides and parasites.
