M-161 — May 8, 2006 — Mr. Stanton (Simcoe North) — That, in the opinion of the House, the government should consider the advisability of evaluating the future of the historic Trent-Severn Waterway, one of Parks Canada’s National Historic Sites, and its potential to become: (a) a premier recreational asset; (b) a world-class destination for recreational boaters; (c) a greater source of clean, renewable electrical power; (d) a facilitator of economic opportunity and renewal in the communities along its 386 km length; and (e) a model of environmental sustainability.

M-172 — May 15, 2006 — Mr. Scott (Fredericton) — That, in the opinion of the House, the government should create a national strategy for autism spectrum disorder that would include: (a) the establishment, in cooperation with provincial governments, of national standards for the treatment of autism spectrum disorder and the delivery of related services; (b) the study, in cooperation with provincial governments, of the funding arrangements for the care of those with autism spectrum disorder, including the possibility of transferring federal funds to assist provincial governments to provide no-cost treatment, education, professional training and other required supports for Canadians with autism spectrum disorder without unreasonable wait times; (c) the creation of a national surveillance program for autism spectrum disorder to be managed by the Public Health Agency of Canada; and (d) the provision of funding for health research into treatments for autism spectrum disorder.

Scott (Fredericton) — Que, de l’avis de la Chambre, le gouvernement devrait adopter une stratégie nationale sur les troubles du spectre autistique, qui comporterait : a) l’établissement, en coopération avec les gouvernements provinciaux, de normes nationales pour le traitement des troubles du spectre autistique et la prestation des services afférents; b) l’étude, aussi en coopération avec les gouvernements provinciaux, des dispositions de financement des soins pour ceux qui souffrent de troubles du spectre autistique, et notamment la possibilité de transférer des fonds fédéraux aux gouvernements provinciaux pour aider ceux-ci à fournir gratuitement les traitements, l’enseignement, la formation professionnelle et tous les autres outils requis, sans que les gens atteints n’aient à attendre pendant des périodes déraisonnables; c) la création d’un programme national de surveillance de l’autisme géré par l’Agence de santé publique du Canada; d) le financement de la recherche sur le traitement des troubles du spectre autistique.
