SEVENTH REPORT	SEPTIÈME RAPPORT
In accordance with its mandate under Standing Order 108(2), your Committee has considered the issue of the crisis in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and has agreed to report the following:	Conformément au mandat que lui confère le paragraphe 108(2) du Règlement, votre Comité a examiné la question de la  crise en République démocratique du Congo et a convenu de rapporter ce qui suit :

-        in view of the worsening crisis in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and of compelling evidence presented recently to the Sub-Committee on Human Rights and International Development calls upon the Government of Canada to intensify its efforts to reach agreement in the United Nations and through other multilateral channels, to act immediately and forcefully to bring an end to the fighting in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, to start a massive humanitarian relief effort and to engage the commitment of the international community to play its part in achieving long-term stability and development in the region;	-      devant l’aggravation de la crise en République démocratique du Congo et les preuves péremptoires qui ont été récemment présentées au Sous-comité des droits de la personne et du développement international, exhorte le gouvernement du Canada à intensifier ses efforts visant à conclure une entente aux Nations Unies et par l’entremise d’autres canaux multilatéraux, en vue d’agir immédiatement et fermement pour mettre fin aux combats dans ce pays, entreprendre un vaste programme de secours humanitaire et enjoindre la communauté internationale à jouer son rôle dans la stabilité et le développement à long terme de la région;
-        further urges the Government to seriously consider contributing a significant Canadian Forces and civilian police contingent to the new United Nations security force in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, where Canada’s expertise in peacekeeping and post-conflict reconstruction and credibility in the region allow the possibility of a substantial contribution toward resolving this crisis;	-      exhorte également le gouvernement du Canada à envisager sérieusement d’envoyer un fort contingent de représentants des Forces canadiennes et de la police civile à la nouvelle force de sécurité des Nations Unies en République démocratique du Congo, où la crédibilité du Canada dans la région et son savoir-faire en matière de maintien de la paix et de reconstruction post-conflit lui permettront de contribuer grandement à la résolution de la crise;
-        notes the  implications for Canada’s involvement in other multilateral efforts but believes that the urgency and magnitude of this humanitarian crisis must make it a priority for the Government.	-      reconnaît les conséquences de l’intervention du Canada dans d’autres activités multilatérales mais croit que l’urgence et l’ampleur de cette crise humanitaire doivent en faire une priorité pour le gouvernement.
