[English]

Good morning, everybody. I apologize for being a bit late.
I'd like to call the meeting to order.
We're going to be in public. We have a little bit of public business to do, and then we'll have to go into committee business.
First of all, I'd like to welcome our new clerk, Karine.

[Translation]

My name is Karine Parenteau. I'm very happy to be here with you.

[English]

I'm very pleased to be with you for my first committee. This is our first meeting, so happy new year, everybody.
You'll have trouble organizing me. You didn't put it on the list to welcome you, but I remembered.
We also have two new members. I'd like to welcome Mr. Gord Johns, NDP, and we have a familiar face. Mr. Kitchen is back.
Let's have a round of applause for both members.
    [Applause]
The Chair: Now we have to go into a procedure. We have to elect the second vice-chair for the NDP. I want to know if there are any names coming forward for that.
I see that Mr. Johns has been presented.
    All in favour?
    (Motion agreed to)
    The Chair: Congratulations, Mr. Johns.
    Thanks, Mr. Chair.
We sure don't want anybody opposed.
We'll slip into committee business now.
    [Proceedings continue in camera]
