Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Thursday, September 18, 2025, the committee resumed its study of changing landscape of truck drivers in Canada.

Marc Cadieux, Maximilien Roy and Kim Richardson made statements and, with Josyanne Pierrat and Cecilia Omole, answered questions.

At 4:41 p.m., the meeting was suspended.

At 4:52 p.m., the meeting resumed.

Edward Webb, Gurpreet Chatwal and Amarjot Singh Sahney made statements and answered questions.

Motion

Xavier Barsalou-Duval moved, — That the Standing Committee on Transport, Infrastructure, and Communities add one meeting as part of the study of the changing landscape of truck drivers in Canada, so that the first hour is devoted to hearing testimony from victims of “Driver Inc.” and the second hour to hearing from representatives of Justice for Truck Drivers, the Caledon Community Road Safety Advocacy Group (CCRSA), and The Joy Smith Foundation.

Debate arose thereon.

At 5:43 p.m., the meeting was suspended.

At 5:50 p.m., the meeting resumed.

On motion of Stéphane Lauzon, it was agreed, — That the motion be amended by replacing the words “Driver Inc.” with the words “heavy truck drivers”.

Amendment

Dan Albas moved, —

That the motion, as amended, be amended by:

  1. replacing the words “one meeting” with the words “two meetings”;
  2. adding, after the words “changing landscape of truck drivers in Canada,” the following: “comprised of”;
  3. replacing the words “so that” with the words “one meeting, of no less than two hours, wherein”; and
  4. adding, after the words “Joy Smith Foundation” the following: “; and one meeting, of no less than two hours, wherein representatives from 6S Trinity Transport, J + R Hall Trucking, Dan Express, Carmen Transportation, Ludwig Transport Limited and L'Association des Professionnels du Dépannage du Québec be invited to testify.”

Debate arose thereon.

At 6:39 p.m., the meeting was suspended.

At 7:08 p.m., the meeting resumed.

At 8:33 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
