Pursuant to the order of reference of Monday, February 2, 2026, the committee resumed consideration of Bill C-16, An Act to amend certain Acts in relation to criminal and correctional matters (child protection, gender-based violence, delays and other measures).

Suzanne Zaccour, Louise Riendeau and Karine Barrette made statements and answered questions.

At 12:01 p.m., the meeting was suspended.

At 12:10 p.m., the meeting resumed.

Sylvie Champagne, Peter Copeland and Crystal Giesbrecht made statements and answered questions.

The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

It was agreed, — That members of the committee submit all proposed amendments to Bill C-16 to the Clerk no later than noon on Thursday, April 23, 2026.

At 1:09 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
