Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the committee commenced its study of the subject matter of Supplementary Estimates (A), 2026-27: Vote 1a under Canadian High Arctic Research Station, Votes 1a and 10a under Department of Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs and Votes 1a and 10a under Department of Indigenous Services.

It was agreed, — That the proposed budget in the amount of $500.00, for the study of the subject matter of Supplementary Estimates (A), 2026-27, be adopted.

The Minister of Indigenous Services made a statement and answered questions.

Notice of Motion

Billy Morin gave notice of the following motion:

That the committee conclude the study on Bill S-2, An Act to Amend the Indian Act, and proceed to clause by clause on the Bill no later than Tuesday, June 16, 2026, to expedite resolution regarding uncertainty in Nicholas v. Attorney General to end further delays and advance legislation that has been agreed to by 511 individual First Nations and is supported by thousands of Canadians calling for its passage.

At 9:13 a.m., the meeting was suspended.

At 9:20 a.m., the meeting resumed.

The Minister of Crown-Indigenous Relations and Minister of Northern and Arctic Affairs made a statement and answered questions.

At 10:05, pursuant to Standing Order 115(5), it was agreed that the committee continue to sit.

At 10:23 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
