Election of Vice-Chairs
Pursuant to Standing Order 106(2), the clerk of the committee presided over the election of a vice-chair.

On motion of Juanita Nathan, it was agreed, — That Marilyn Gladu be elected First Vice-Chair of the committee.

Role and Capacity of Women's Shelters and Transitional Housing to Support Women and Girls in Canada

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Thursday, April 23, 2026, the committee commenced its study of the role and capacity of women's shelters and transitional housing to support women and girls in Canada.

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

At 12:01 p.m., the meeting was suspended.

At 12:07 p.m., the meeting resumed in camera.

Committee Business
The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

It was agreed, — That the proposed budget in the amount of $30,550, for the study of the role and capacity of women's shelters and transitional housing to support women and girls in Canada, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That the clerk and analysts of the committee, in consultation with the Chair, prepare a news release to announce the committee's study of the role and capacity of women's shelters and transitional housing to support women and girls in Canada and to invite the public to submit briefs.

It was agreed, — That the deadline for the submission of briefs in relation to the study of the role and capacity of women's shelters and transitional housing to support women and girls in Canada be Friday, June 12, 2026, and that briefs not exceed two pages (approximately 1,000 words).

It was agreed, — That the committee meet in camera, in an informal meeting, with a delegation from UN Women later today, Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. (EDT); and that the committee defray the hospitality expenses related to this meeting.

Antifeminist Ideology
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Monday, September 15, 2025, the committee resumed its study of antifeminist ideology.

The committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

It was agreed, — That the draft report, as amended, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That the report be entitled: "Confronting Antifeminist Ideologies in Canada".

It was agreed, — That the Chair, clerk and analysts be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the report.

It was agreed, — That dissenting or supplementary opinions be in Calibri 12-point font, left aligned, single-spaced, and be submitted electronically, in both official languages, to the clerk of the committee, no later than Wednesday, June 3, 2026.

ORDERED, — That the Chair present the report to the House.

ORDERED, — That the clerk and analysts of the committee, in consultation with the Chair, prepare a news release for publication on the committee’s website and for distribution upon presentation of the report to the House.

ORDERED, — That the clerk of the committee make the necessary arrangements for a press conference to be held after the presentation of the committee's report to the House on antifeminist ideology; and that the committee be represented by the Chair and a representative from each party.

Abuse and Financial Vulnerability of Senior Women
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, the committee resumed its study of abuse and financial vulnerability of senior women.

The committee proceeded to give drafting instructions to the analysts for a draft report.

At 12:46 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
