Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Thursday, February 12, 2026, the committee commenced its study of single-use plastics prohibition regulations.

Dr. Chelsea Rochman, W. Scott Thurlow and Dr. Peter Ross made statements and answered questions.

At 12:05 p.m., the meeting was suspended.

At 12:12 p.m., the meeting resumed.

Greg Moffatt, Karen Wirsig and Anthony Merante made statements and answered questions.

Motion

Branden Leslie moved, — That the study of single-use plastics prohibition regulations be prolonged until such time as the Minister of the Environment, Climate Change and Nature may appear before the committee under the study.

After debate, the question was put on the motion and it was negatived on the following recorded division:

YEAS: David Bexte, Patrick Bonin, Amanpreet S. Gill, Branden Leslie, Ellis Ross — 5;

NAYS: Bruce Fanjoy, Wade Grant, Will Greaves, Chris Malette, Eric St-Pierre, Tim Watchorn — 6.
