Hamid Fadili, Souad Elmallem, and Ruth Vachon made statements and answered questions.
At 12:04 p.m., the meeting was suspended.
At 12:11 p.m., the meeting resumed.
Carl Viel and René Roy made statements and answered questions.
On motion of Steeve Lavoie, it was agreed, — That, given that issues related to predictability in international trade have been raised repeatedly in the committee’s previous studies, and in light of evolving global trade conditions as well as the government’s recent priorities aimed at diversifying Canadian exports, particularly toward Europe, and that the Business Development Bank of Canada, Export Development Canada, the Canadian Commercial Corporation and Invest in Canada, which work directly with Canadian businesses and international investors, are well positioned to inform the committee on key challenges, opportunities, and support tools, the committee invite the following witnesses to appear:
1. representatives from the Business Development Bank of Canada, for two hours; 2. representatives from Export Development Canada, for two hours; 3. representatives from the Canadian Commercial Corporation, for one hour; 4. representatives from Invest in Canada, for one hour; And that their testimony support the committee’s work in relation to its studies on existing and future trade agreements, as well as new opportunities for market diversification for Canadian businesses.At 1:01 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
