The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

It was agreed, — That the proposed supplementary budget in the amount of $14,250, for the study of innovation, science and research in recycling plastics, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That the committee meet, in an informal meeting, with a delegation from the Federal Republic of Germany on either Monday, October 21, 2024, or Tuesday, October 22, 2024.

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(i), the committee undertake a study of the mission, mandate, role, structure and financing of the new capstone research funding organization announced in Budget 2024; that the committee hear a minimum of eight hours of witness testimony prior to the drafting of a report; that, in addition to witnesses proposed by the committee members, the committee invite the Minister of Health, the Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry, and all members of the Canada Research Coordinating Committee; that the committee report its findings to the House of Commons; and that, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the committee request that the government table a comprehensive response to the report.

ORDERED, — That the clerk of the committee, in consultation with the Chair, write to the Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry, to inform the Minister of the study motion adopted on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, and to invite the Minister to appear before the committee.

At 5:26 p.m., the meeting was suspended.

At 5:31 p.m., the meeting resumed.

At 5:47 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
