Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, the committee resumed its study of top talent, research and innovation.

Joel Blit, Jalene LaMontagne, Jean-Pierre Perreault and Deborah MacLatchy made statements and answered questions.

At 7:33 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 7:36 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Gordon McCauley, Michele Mosca and Catharine Whiteside made statements and, with Youssef Bennani, answered questions.

At 8:35 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 8:37 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Denise Amyot, Robert Annan and Edward McCauley made statements and, with Pari Johnson, answered questions.

The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

It was agreed, — That, in relation to the study of big science in Canada, the proposed budget in the amount of $86, 272.80, for the committee’s travel to Vancouver and Penticton, BC, Saskatoon, SK, and Sudbury and Chalk River, ON, in fall 2022, be adopted.

The committee proceeded to give drafting instructions to the analysts for a draft report.

At 9:38 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
