Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, the committee commenced its study of gender-based violence and femicides against women, girls and gender-diverse people.

Alison Irons made a statement.

At 11:07 a.m., the meeting was suspended.

At 11:08 a.m., the meeting resumed.

Megan Walker, Cait Alexander, Shelina Jeshani, and Anuradha Dugal made statements and answered questions.

It was agreed, — That, in relation to the study of gender-based violence and femicides against women, girls and gender-diverse people, the committee offer mental health supports to the witnesses, and that the Clerk be authorized to make the necessary arrangements, if requested.

It was agreed, — That the proposed budget in the amount of $33,100, for the study of gender-based violence and femicides against women, girls and gender-diverse people, be adopted.

At 1:02 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
