Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Monday, February 1, 2021, the committee resumed its study of critical minerals and associated value chains in Canada.

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

At 2:33 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 2:38 p.m., the sitting resumed.

The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

Motion

Shannon Stubbs moved, — That the committee invite the Minister of Natural Resources and officials to appear to consider the Main Estimates 2021-22 for a minimum of two hours, at their earliest convenience, but no later than Friday, May 14, 2021.

Amendment

Paul Lefebvre moved, — That the motion be amended by replacing the words “May 14” with the words “May 28”.

After debate, the question was put on the amendment of Paul Lefebvre and it was agreed to on the following recorded division:

YEAS: Richard Cannings, Yvonne Jones, Paul Lefebvre, Dane Lloyd, Bryan May, Greg McLean, Maninder Sidhu, Mario Simard, Shannon Stubbs, Patrick Weiler, Bob Zimmer — 11;

NAYS: — 0.

The question was put on the motion, as amended, and it was agreed to.

The motion, as amended, read as follows:

That the committee invite the Minister of Natural Resources and officials to appear to consider the Main Estimates 2021-22 for a minimum of two hours, at their earliest convenience, but no later than Friday, May 28, 2021.

At 2:53 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 2:57 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

The committee resumed the consideration of matters related to committee business.

At 3:02 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
