Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Tuesday, February 2, 2021, the committee resumed its study of the impact of COVID-19 on seniors.

Serge Séguin and Connie Newman made statements and answered questions.

At 5:02 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:03 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Pursuant to the order of reference of Wednesday, May 26, 2021, the committee resumed consideration of Bill C-265, An Act to amend the Employment Insurance Act (illness, injury or quarantine).

The committee commenced its clause-by-clause study of the Bill.

Pursuant to Standing Order 75(1), consideration of Clause 1 (short title) and of the Preamble was postponed.

The Chair called Clause 2.

On Clause 2,

Raquel Dancho moved, — That Bill C-265, in Clause 2, be amended by replacing line 2 on page 2 with the following:

“tine is 52;”

Debate arose thereon.

The Chair ruled the proposed amendment inadmissible because it infringed on the financial initiative of the Crown, as provided on page 772 of House of Commons Procedure and Practice, Third Edition.

Clause 2 carried.

Clause 3 carried.

Clause 4 carried.

The Preamble carried.

Clause 1, Short Title, carried.

The Title carried.

The Bill was adopted.

ORDERED, — That the Chair report the Bill to the House.
