Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Friday, October 9, 2020, the committee resumed its study of urban, rural, and northern Indigenous housing.

Jeff Morrison, Steve Sutherland, Heather Johnston and Madeleine Redfern made statements and answered questions.

At 4:41 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:46 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Elizabeth Sam and David Eddy made statements and answered questions.

The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

Motion

Adam Vaughan moved, — That the proposed committee schedule be as follows:

February 2, 2021: committee business to line up the next study and begin witness selection;

February 4, 2021: Jesse Thistle to appear for the first hour and an update on the rapid housing initiative for the second hour;

February 16, 2021: Parliamentary Budget Officer to appear for the first hour and drafting instructions to the analysts for a draft report for the second hour; and

February 18, 2021: committee to begin a new study.

On motion of Peter Kent, it was agreed, — That the motion be amended by adding after the word “selection” the following: “and Jesse Thistle to appear for the second hour”.

The debate on the motion, as amended, continued.

On motion of Peter Kent, it was agreed, — That the motion be amended by replacing the words “Jesse Thistle to appear for the first hour and an update on the rapid housing initiative for the second hour” with the words “rapid housing initiative update with the minister and Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation”.

After debate, the question was put on the motion, as amended, and it was agreed to.

The motion, as amended, read as follows:

That the proposed committee schedule be as follows:

February 2, 2021: committee business to line up the next study and begin witness selection and Jesse Thistle to appear for the second hour;

February 4, 2021: rapid housing initiative update with the minister and Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation;

February 16, 2021: Parliamentary Budget Officer to appear for the first hour and drafting instructions to the analysts for a draft report for the second hour; and

February 18, 2021: committee to begin a new study.

At 5:38 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
