Minutes of Proceedings
Helen Ryan made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.
Peter Schiefke moved, — That the committee hold an additional hearing in relation to the consideration of Bill C-204 before proceeding with clause-by-clause consideration and that the sponsor of the bill and appropriate government officials be invited to attend to answer additional questions.
Debate arose thereon.
It was agreed, — That the motion be amended by adding after the words “sponsor of the bill” the following: “, witnesses representing municipalities”.
After debate, the question was put on the motion, as amended, and it was agreed to on the following recorded division:
YEAS: Yvan Baker, Lyne Bessette, Monique Pauzé, Raj Saini, Ya’ara Saks, Peter Schiefke — 6;
NAYS: Dan Albas, Laurel Collins, Matt Jeneroux, Cathy McLeod, Brad Redekopp — 5.
The motion, as amended, read as follows:
That the committee hold an additional hearing in relation to the consideration of Bill C-204 before proceeding with clause-by-clause consideration and that the sponsor of the bill, witnesses representing municipalities and appropriate government officials be invited to attend to answer additional questions.
Monique Pauzé moved, — That the additional meeting on Bill C-204 consist of one hour with witnesses, followed by one hour for clause-by-clause consideration of the bill, with government officials present.
After debate, the question was put on the motion and it was agreed to.
Yvan Baker moved, — That the committee do now adjourn.
By unanimous consent, the motion was withdrawn.
The committee resumed consideration of the motion moved by Monique Pauzé on Wednesday, March 10, 2021, which read as follows:
That the clerk inform each witness who is to appear before the committee that the House administration support team must conduct technical tests to check the connectivity and the equipment used to ensure the best possible sound quality; and that the Chair advise the committee, at the start of each meeting, of any witness who did not perform the required technical tests.
The question was put on the motion and it was agreed to.
The committee resumed consideration of the motion moved by Monique Pauzé on Wednesday, March 10, 2021, which read as follows:
That all documents submitted for committee business that do not come from a federal department or that have not been translated by the Translation Bureau be sent for prior linguistic review by the Translation Bureau before being distributed to members.
It was agreed, — That the motion be amended by adding after the words “federal department” the following: ", member's office,”.
The question was put on the motion, as amended, and it was agreed to.
The motion, as amended, read as follows:
That all documents submitted for committee business that do not come from a federal department, member’s office, or that have not been translated by the Translation Bureau be sent for prior linguistic review by the Translation Bureau before being distributed to members.
