Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Wednesday, February 19, 2020, the committee resumed its study of the forest industry.

Arun Alexander made a statement and, with Michael Owen and Colin Barker, answered questions.

At 4:22 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:27 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Manon Brassard, Gerry Salembier and Chuck Maillet, by videoconference from Halifax, Nova Scotia, made statements and answered questions.

At 5:22 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:25 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

It was agreed, — That a proposed budget in the amount of $25,200, for the study of forest industry, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(1)(a) and in relation to the study of the forest industry, the committee request a list of all loans and loan guarantees issued by Export Development Canada and the Business Development Bank of Canada under the Softwood Lumber Action Plan since 2017, including the name of each recipient company of a loan or loan guarantee, the amount of each loan or loan guarantee, and the purpose of each loan or loan guarantee, including but not limited to capital investments, expansion of market opportunities and diversification into new markets, and that the said material be delivered to the committee not later than Monday, April 20, 2020.

At 5:39 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
