Pursuant to the motion adopted by the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development on Thursday, February 4, 2016, and the motion adopted by the Subcommittee on Tuesday, March 20, 2018, the Subcommittee resumed its study of the human rights situation in Turkey.

Abdullah Bozhurt, by videoconference from Stockholm, Sweden, and Arzu Yildiz, by videoconference from Toronto, Ontario, made statements and answered questions.

At 1:59 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 1:59 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

The Subcommittee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Subcommittee business.

It was agreed, — That a proposed budget in the amount of $7,500.00, for the study of the Human Rights Situation In Turkey, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That a proposed budget in the amount of $2,900.00, for the study of the Human Rights Situation in Cambodia, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That a proposed budget in the amount of $2,300.00, for the study of the Briefing on the Human Rights Situation in Syria, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That a proposal for travel to Geneva in relation to the Subcommittee's study of Canada’s global engagement on human rights issues, particularly through the United Nations (UN) and its agencies be prepared and forwarded to the Subcommittee on Budgets of the Liaison Committee as soon as possible.

At 2:04 p.m., the Subcommittee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
