Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), and the motion adopted by the Committee on Monday, December 11, 2017, the Committee resumed its study on the current state and future of national energy data.

Bill Eggertson and Pippa Feinstein, by videoconference from Toronto, Ontario, made statements and answered questions.

Motion

Jamie Schmale moved, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Standing Committee on Natural Resources, in light of the potential cancellation of the Trans Mountain Expansion on May 31, 2018 and the flight of investment in oil and gas leaving Canada, immediately invite Mr. Brian Porter, the CEO of ScotiaBank, to appear before the committee to inform the members of how Trans Mountain’s cancellation may affect future investment in Canada’s oil and gas sector, its supply chain and other resource markets; that the meeting take place no later than May 31, 2018; that the meeting be televised; and that the committee report its findings to the House.

Debate arose thereon.

Motion

Mary Ng moved, — That the debate be now adjourned.

The question was put on the motion and it was agreed to, by a show of hands: YEAS: 5; NAYS: 3.

At 10:16 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:17 a.m., the sitting resumed.

Alison Thompson made a statement and answered questions.

At 10:45 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
