Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(a)(vi), the Committee commenced its study of safeguarding the 2019 general election and the Security and Intelligence Threats to Elections Task Force.

At 11:04 a.m., pursuant to Standing Order 115(5), it was agreed that the Committee continue to sit.

The Minister made a statement.

At 11:18 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 11:43 a.m., the sitting resumed.

The witnesses answered questions.

At 12:10 a.m., pursuant to Standing Order 115(5), it was agreed that the Committee continue to sit.

Questioning of the witnesses resumed.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, — That, in relation to the study of parallel debating chambers, the Clerk of the Australian House of Representatives be invited to appear by videoconference, on Tuesday, April 30, 2019, at 7 p.m.

It was agreed, — That, on Tuesday, April 30, 2019, and Thursday, May 2, 2019, the Committee consider the Main Estimates 2019-20; and that the Speaker of the House of Commons, the Chief Electoral Officer, the Minister of Democratic Institutions and the Debates Commissioner be invited to appear.

It was agreed, — That the Committee's 66th Report, entitled “The Use of Indigenous Languages in Proceedings of the House of Commons and Committees”, be translated into the Indigenous languages spoken by the witnesses who appeared during the study.

Motion

Stephanie Kusie moved, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(a)(vi), the Committee continue the study of Security and Intelligence Threats to Elections; that the study consist of five meetings; and that the findings be reported to the House.

Debate arose thereon.

At 12:34 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
