Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, October 24, 2017, the Committee resumed its study of small and medium enterprises (SME) in federal procurement.

Matthew Sreter, Ana Renart and Peter Burn made statements and, with Eric Wildhaber and Pierre Marier, answered questions.

Motion

Kelly McCauley moved, — That the Committee resume consideration of the motion moved by Kelly McCauley on Tuesday, October 31, 2017, which read as follows:

That the Committee invite the Chair of the Working Group of Ministers on Achieving Steady State for the Pay System to provide a briefing to the Committee on the working group’s progress; that the meeting be held outside of the Committee’s regular schedule if necessary; and that the meeting be held no later than Tuesday, October 31, 2017;

And of the amendment moved by Erin Weir on Tuesday, October 31, 2017, which read as follows:

That the motion be amended by replacing the words “Tuesday, October 31” with the words “Thursday, November 30”.

At 12:38 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:38 p.m., the sitting resumed.

The question was put on the motion and it was negatived on the following recorded division:

YEAS: Kelly McCauley, Bev Shipley, Erin Weir — 3;

NAYS: Bill Casey, Nicola Di Iorio, Francis Drouin, Kyle Peterson, Jean-Claude Poissant, Nick Whalen — 6.

At 12:55 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:59 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, — That the Committee invite the Minister of Public Services and Procurement to appear on Tuesday, November 28, 2017, for one hour in relation to its study of the Supplementary Estimates (B) 2017-18 and for one hour in relation to its study of the Phoenix payroll system.

At 1:05 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
