[Recorded by Electronic Apparatus]

Honourable members of the committee, I see a quorum.
We can now proceed to the election of the chair. I am ready to receive motions to that effect.
    Mr. Nault.
Mr. Clerk, I'd like to nominate Judy Sgro for chair of the committee.
It has been moved by Mr. Nault that Ms. Sgro be elected as chair of the committee. Are there any further nominations?
    (Motion agreed to)
I declare the motion carried and Ms. Sgro the duly elected chair of the committee.
    Some hon. members: Hear, hear!
Thank you very much for the vote of confidence.
Now that we have elected the chair, is it the pleasure of the committee to elect the vice-chair?
    Some hon. members: Agreed.
The Chair: Mr. Clerk, would you go ahead?
I am now prepared to receive motions for the position of vice-chair. Are there any nominations?
    Mr. Housefather.
Yes, I'd like to nominate Tom Lukiwski.
Mr. Housefather has nominated Mr. Lukiwski as vice-chair of the committee. Are there any further nominations?
    (Motion agreed to)
I declare the motion carried and Mr. Lukiwski the duly elected vice-chair of the committee.
    Some hon. members: Hear, hear!
We will now discuss the subcommittee on committee budgets.
That pursuant to Standing Order 107(6), is there a motion on the floor to approve the subcommittee?
Yes, ma'am, with a great deal of enthusiasm.
I move that pursuant to Standing Order 107(6), a subcommittee on committee budgets be established to approve committees' budget requests and that the subcommittee be composed of the chair, the vice-chair, Wayne Easter, Stephen Fuhr, Deb Schulte, and Blaine Calkins.
    (Motion agreed to)
Now we're going to deal with some routine motions:
That the Clerk of the Committee be authorized to make the necessary arrangements to provide working meals for the Committee and its subcommittees.
That the Committee retain, as needed and at the discretion of the Chair, the services of one or more analysts from the Library of Parliament to assist it in its work.
    (Motions agreed to)
I need a motion to move in camera at this time.
    That's moved by Mr. Ellis.
    (Motion agreed to)
    [Proceedings continue in camera]
