Official Languages Committee pays tribute to the Hon. Claudette Tardif

Edmonton, Alberta, March 01, 2018 -

When the House of Commons Standing Committee on Official Languages visited Edmonton, it paid tribute to the Hon. Claudette Tardif, a former Senator from Alberta. The Chair of the Committee, the Hon. Denis Paradis, highlighted her unwavering commitment to linguistic duality: “The Hon. Claudette Tardif is a language rights pioneer, especially in Western Canada. For many years, she has played a key role in promoting the French language and the development of official language minority communities across the country.”

Today, the Committee is holding public hearings and carrying out site visits in Edmonton. On February 26, the Committee began its study on early childhood services in French and access to French second language programs. It will finish its Western tour in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on March 2, 2018.
