The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, — That the person responsible for Official Languages in Parliament be invited to appear before the Committee.

It was agreed, — That the Commissioner of Official Languages be invited to appear before the Committee for a period of two hours.

It was agreed, — That the Quebec community Group Network and the Federation of francophone and Acadian communities be invited to appear before the Committee.

It was agreed, — That the Treasury Board of Canada be invited to appear before the Committee and, that the President of the Treasury Board be added to the list of the representatives of that Department.

It was agreed, — That the clerk of the Committee prepare a travel budget for the Committee. That the Budget reflects the fact that the Committee plans to travel in two stages and that, while the House is sitting. That the Committee intends to visit first, the East part of the country, including Ontario (Sudbury), Quebec and Nova Scotia. The Committee will then go west, to Manitoba (Saint Boniface) and to Alberta (Edmonton).

At 4:18 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:31 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(f), the Committee proceeded to a briefing on the Current Roadmap for Official Languages.

Jean-Pierre C. Gauthier and Hubert Lussier made statements and answered questions.

At 5:37 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
