Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(f) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Monday, February 22, 2016, the Committee resumed its study of a review of the status of official languages in minority settings across Canada.

Graham Fraser made an opening statement and answered questions.

At 4:36 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:45 p.m., the sitting resumed.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, — That a proposed budget in the amount of $4,800.00, for the study of the Translation Bureau, be adopted.

Pursuant to Standing Order 81(4), the Committee commenced consideration of the Main Estimates 2016-17: Vote 1 under Office of the Commissioner of Official Languages, referred to the Committee on Tuesday, February 23, 2016.

The Chair called Vote 1 under the Office of the Commissioner of Official Languages.

Graham Fraser and Colette Lagacé made a statement and, with Pascale Giguère and Ghislaine Saikaley, answered questions.

Vote 1 under the Office of the Commissioner of Official Languages carried.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

On motion of Paul Lefebvre, it was resolved:

Whereas Graham Fraser, Commissioner of Official Languages, worked for 10 years as Commissioner;

Whereas Graham Fraser demonstrated exemplary commitment to his duties;

That the Standing Committee on Official Languages officially thank Mr. Fraser for his service in enforcing the Official Languages Act across Canada for the benefit of all Canadians.

At 5:37 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
