Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Wednesday, February 13, 2019, the Committee resumed its study of remediation agreements, the Shawcross Doctrine and the discussions between the Office of the Attorney General and government colleagues.

On motion of Murray Rankin, it was agreed, — That the Hon. Jody Wilson-Raybould appear today for longer than anticipated, provided that the Chair asks the Committee after each full round of questioning whether it wishes to continue asking questions.

It was agreed, — That the French version of the opening statement by the Hon. Jody Wilson-Raybould be received as quickly as possible.

The Hon. Jody Wilson-Raybould made a statement and answered questions.

Motion

Murray Rankin moved, — That, in the interest of transparency and accountability, the Committee call upon the Prime Minister and Governor-in-Council to waive solicitor-client privilege and Cabinet confidentiality relating to the SNC-Lavalin issue, so that the former Attorney General can inform the Committee of any relevant information with respect to the period subsequent to her ceasing to serve as Attorney General of Canada on Monday, January 14, 2019.

It was agreed, — That the debate on the motion by Murray Rankin be adjourned until questioning of the witness is completed.

Questioning of the witness resumed.

At 7:23 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 7:27 p.m., the sitting resumed.

The Committee resumed consideration of the motion of Murray Rankin, — That, in the interest of transparency and accountability, the Committee call upon the Prime Minister and Governor-in-Council to waive solicitor-client privilege and Cabinet confidentiality relating to the SNC-Lavalin issue, so that the former Attorney General can inform the Committee of any relevant information with respect to the period subsequent to her ceasing to serve as Attorney General of Canada on Monday, January 14, 2019.

After debate, the question was put on the motion and it was negatived on the following recorded division:
