CANADIANS INVITED TO SHARE THEIR IDEAS REGARDING INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY AND TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER

Ottawa, June 07, 2017 -

The House of Commons Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology is undertaking a study on intellectual property and technology transfer. It is inviting Canadians to submit briefs no longer than 10 pages by Monday, July 31, 2017. The motion for this study is as follow:

That the Committee undertake a study on intellectual property and technology transfer from post-secondary institutions to industry with the objective of creating value in the Canadian economy. This study would:

a) Review the various technology transfer practices and policies presently in use.

b) Compare these practices nationally, and with the best international practices.

c) Identify incentives for researchers to register intellectual property.

d) Identify incentives and practices for the private sector to identify and utilize post-secondary intellectual property.

e) Review partnerships between colleges, universities, government and the private sector.
