Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Friday, May 3, 2019, the Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-92, An Act respecting First Nations, Inuit and Métis children, youth and families.

Jeffry Nilles, Edward John, Cheryl Casimer and Bobby Narcisse made statements and answered questions.

At 9:30 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

Tischa Mason and Marlene Bugler, by videoconference from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, David Chartrand and Katherine Whitecloud made statements and answered questions.

Motion

Rachel Blaney moved, — That, given the Committee did not hear witness testimony for the allotted 5 hours on Thursday, May 2, 2019, the Committee’s study of Bill C-92, An Act respecting First Nations, Inuit and Métis children, youth and families, be extended by an additional four hours on Tuesday, May 14, 2019.

Debate arose thereon.

It was agreed, — That the Committee resume consideration of the motion later this day.

At 10:32 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:35 a.m., the sitting resumed.

Perry Bellegarde and Mary Ellen Turpel-Lafond made statements and answered questions.

At 11:32 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 11:34 a.m., the sitting resumed.

At 11:56 a.m., Cathy McLeod took the Chair.

It was agreed, — That a proposed budget in the amount of $54,000, for the consideration of Bill C-92, An Act respecting First Nations, Inuit and Métis children, youth and families, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That, regarding the consideration of Bill C-92, An Act respecting First Nations, Inuit and Métis children, youth and families, the Committee hear an additional three hours of witness testimony on Tuesday, May 14, 2019.

It was agreed, — That, regarding the consideration of Bill C-92, An Act respecting First Nations, Inuit and Métis children, youth and families, the Clerk of the Committee prepare and distribute a package with the submitted amendments to the Committee by 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 23, 2019.

At 1:42 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
