| Pursuant to Standing Order 97.1, your Committee is requesting an extension of thirty sitting days to consider Bill C-243, An Act respecting the development of a national maternity assistance program strategy and amending the Employment Insurance Act (maternity benefits), referred to the Committee on Wednesday,October 26, 2016. |
| Consideration of Bill C-243 was postponed by the Committee pending a ruling by the Speaker on whether Bill C-243 requires a Royal Recommendation, which was issued on Tuesday, December 6, 2016; and to finalize the Committee’s study on poverty reduction strategies, which has involved a travel component during the months of February and March 2017. The Committee desires to hear from witnesses and conduct a clause-by-clause analysis in relation to Bill C-243, and feels that additional time would allow for a thorough examination of the legislation. Therefore, your Committee requests an extension of thirty sitting days. |
