Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed its study of Organ Donation.

The Committee commenced consideration of a draft report.

It was agreed, — That the draft report, as amended, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That the report be entitled: "Organ Donation in Canada".

It was agreed, — That the Chair, Clerk and analysts be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the report.

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the Committee request that the government table a comprehensive response to the report.

It was agreed, — That the analysts and the Clerk, in consultation with the Chair, prepare a news release for publication on the Committee’s website and for distribution upon presentation of the report to the House.

It was agreed, — That the Clerk of the Committee make the necessary arrangements for a press conference to be held on Tuesday, September 25, 2018, at 10:30 a.m., after the tabling of the Committee's report to the House.

ORDERED, — That the Chair present the report to the House.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, — That the Fourth Report from the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure, which read as follows, be concurred in, as amended:

Your Subcommittee met on Tuesday, September 18, 2018, to consider the business of the Committee and agreed to make the following recommendations:

1. That, in relation to the Committee’s report on Highly Sweetened Pre-Mixed Alcoholic Beverages, the Committee take the necessary steps to make a correction, following a request by Phusion Projects;

2. That, in relation to the study of M-132, Federally Funded Health Research:

a. the Committee invite the sponsor of the motion to appear on Thursday, September 20, 2018, for one hour, in camera;

b. the Committee dedicate the meetings of Tuesday, October 16, 2018, and Thursday, October 18, 2018, to hear witnesses;

3. That, in relation to the study of Diabetes Strategies in Canada and Abroad:

a. the Committee dedicate two meetings on either Thursday, September 27, 2018, Tuesday, October 2, 2018, or Thursday, October 4, 2018, to re-invite witnesses who appeared on Wednesday, May 23, 2018, and to invite witnesses for an international panel;

4. That, in relation to the study on the barriers to access to treatment and drugs for Canadians affected by rare diseases and disorders:

a. the Committee dedicate two meetings on either Thursday, September 27, 2018, Tuesday, October 2, 2018, or Thursday, October 4, 2018, to hear witnesses;

b. the Committee dedicate at least two further meetings on Tuesday, October 23, 2018, and Thursday, October 25, 2018, to hear from further witnesses.

5. That, in relation to the future priority of studies, beyond those listed above, the order of priority be as follows:

a. Study on impacts of methamphetamine abuse in Canada;

b. Study on LGBTQ2 health in Canada; and

c. Study on the violence faced by healthcare workers in hospitals, long-term care facilities and in home care settings.

It was agreed, — That the work plan prepared by the analysts for the study on the barriers to access to treatment and drugs for Canadians affected by rare diseases and disorders, be adopted, as amended.

At 9:23 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 9:33 a.m., the sitting resumed.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Wednesday, November 8, 2017, the Committee commenced its study of Federally Funded Health Research (M-132).

Raj Saini made a statement and answered questions.

At 10:10 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
