House Finance Committee Concludes its Pre-Budget Consultations
Ottawa, November 01, 2016 -
Last week, the House of Commons Standing Committee on Finance concluded its pre-budget consultations that are required under Standing Order 83.1.
“I want to thank all Canadians who contributed to the House Finance Committee’s pre-budget consultations. During our consultation process, we received 442 briefs, and heard from 214 groups and individuals in Ottawa and in various cities throughout Canada. The briefs and testimony have provided Committee members with a wide range of ideas about the priorities of Canadians as the 2017 federal budget is being developed,” said the Honourable Wayne Easter, Chair of the Committee.
Mr. Easter concluded: “The Committee will now begin work on the report on our consultations, and on formulating recommendations for the Minister of Finance that will be included in that report. The report will be tabled in the House of Commons in December. Certainly, as we undertake our work, we’ll continue to focus on the types of federal measures that will ensure that Canada’s people, businesses and communities are able to make positive and lasting contributions to the country’s economic growth.”
The briefs and testimony can be accessed on the Committee’s website at: http://www.parl.gc.ca/Committees/en/FINA/Work.
