Pursuant to Standing Order 106(2), the Clerk of the Committee presided over the election of a Vice-Chair.

On motion of Pam Damoff, it was agreed, — That Irene Mathyssen be elected Second Vice-Chair of the Committee.

At 8:47 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 8:48 a.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, — That, in relation to the study of the system of shelters and transition houses serving women and children affected by violence against women and intimate partner violence, the deadline for recommendations submitted by the parties be Friday, February 8, 2019.

It was agreed, — That, in relation to the study of the treatment of women within the Department of National Defence, each party provide a prioritized list of witnesses to the Clerk no later than Friday, March 22, 2019.

It was agreed, — That the Committee study the Supplementary Estimates (B) 2018-19 and the Interim Estimates 2019-20, and that in relation to these studies, the Minister for Women and Gender Equality and relevant departmental officials be invited to appear at the earliest opportunity.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, March 1, 2018, the Committee resumed its study of barriers facing women in politics.

The Committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

It was agreed, — That the draft report, as amended, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That the report be entitled: "Elect Her: A Roadmap for Improving the Representation of Women in Canadian Politics".

It was agreed, — That the Chair, Clerk and analysts be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the report.

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the Committee request that the Government table a comprehensive response to the report.

It was agreed, — That dissenting or supplementary opinions be in Calibri 12 point font, left aligned, single-spaced and be submitted electronically, in both official languages, to the Clerk, not later than noon on Friday, February 22, 2019.

ORDERED, — That the Chair present the report to the House.

ORDERED, — That the analysts and the Clerk, in consultation with the Chair, prepare a news release for publication on the Committee’s website and for distribution upon presentation of the report to the House.

At 10:00 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
