Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, April 4, 2017, the Committee resumed its study of Canada's engagement in Asia.

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

At 12:49 p.m., Garnett Genuis took the Chair.

At 12:53 p.m., Robert D. Nault took the Chair.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, — That in relation to the study of Canada's global engagement on human rights issues, particularly through the United Nations (UN) and its agencies, the proposed budget in the amount of $40,570.04, for the Subcommittee’s travel to New York, New York in Winter-Spring 2018, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That in relation to the study of Canada's global engagement on human rights issues, particularly through the United Nations (UN) and its agencies, the proposed budget in the amount of $122,657.37, for the Subcommittee’s travel to Geneva, Switzerland, in Winter-Spring 2018, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That in relation to the study of Canada's engagement in Asia, the proposed budget in the amount of $215,895.74, for the Committee’s travel to Tokyo, Japan, Seoul, South Korea, Manila, Philippines, in Winter-Spring 2018, be adopted.

At 1:03 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
