Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, February 26, 2019, the Committee commenced its study of Threats to liberal democracy in Europe.

Daniel Fried, by videoconference from Washington, D.C., Benjamin Haddad, by videoconference from Washington, D.C., made statements.

By unanimous consent, it was agreed, — That Staffan Lindberg be authorized to project slides in English only.

Staffan Lindberg, by videoconference, from Gothenburg, Sweden, made a statement.

The witnesses answered questions.

At 9:37 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 9:42 a.m., the sitting resumed.

William Galston, by videoconference from Washington, D.C., made a statement and answered questions.

At 10:46 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
